Blame it on the rain

Being stuck inside all day with two small children is like listening to Milli Vanilli's debut album on repeat.

Today St. John did not live up to this side of paradise. We woke up to rain. I don't mean a Portland drizzle. I'm talking rain so loud that we had to turn on the subtitles this afternoon while watching Godfather Part Deux because we couldn't hear what Michael Corleone and the rest of the family were yacking about.

In looking at some empty pots on the deck, we're guessing we saw about 10 inches of rain today. The last time we saw it rain this hard was on our visit to Thailand during the end of the monsoon season.

On a fun note, Heather and Beau got to play spa and paint Beau's toenails for the first time. Pretty sure she's already hooked on the pedi just like her mamma.

The best part of the rain was that we literally had leaks in every room of the house. At one point, every bath towel, wash cloth and beach towel were on the floor trying to stop the water. Around 2pm, the water had risen so high in the backyard that it was one inch from coming over the threshold. Luckily, around 3:30pm the rains subsided, and we hightailed it down to town to blow off some steam.

We ended the night with a nice dinner out on the deck. And St. John returned to normalcy with another amazing sunset.

  1. Hi,
For what it's worth, you are missing a solid week of rain in PDX, one episode last Saturday warranted a "severe storm warning" from the emergency notification system. Not as dramatic as what you describe, but enough for even those of us native Oregonians.

From whaat I can tell, you have moved to larger digs and have more company - true? That part about every room leaking sounds pretty bad. It would definately color my mood.

Megan and Nick were here yesterday and visited a couple of hours. Nick took off for the San Juans and Megan is staying with kathy for a week or so.

Everything ok here but the weather.

    Love, George.
