I do that*

* Beau's first sentence and a fitting title for our weekend with Mimi.

Saturday was Megan's first full day in St. John. We got up early and headed down to Francis Bay. Well... maybe we were a little too anxious to get out of the house because Thomas left the kids' floaties in the kitchen. On his way back to get them, he got another flat tire. Yep. Back at the beach, Beau sensed her dad was in trouble and wanted to go look for him, insisting her mom take her on a walk down the road....luckily he came back to rescue us before too long.

After Francis Bay, we headed over to Coral Bay for burgers at Skinny Legs. The food was delicious. The Coral Bay side of the island definitely has a more locals feel which we prefer.
We stopped at Domino's gas station to check the air in the rest of the tires. The attendant was a sweet man named Victor Cook. We left with a CD of his music and the story of his Bush Tea (not a tea named after George W. but an herbal tea that is supposed to cure all).

On Saturday afternoon, we ventured back to Hawksnest Bay. With the ocean a little choppy, the kiddos made sand castle like objects with Megan. Beau dined on sand for a late afternoon snack.

On Sunday morning, we went to Trunk Bay, the most photographed beach on St. John. Heather and Thomas went snorkeling while Megan took the kiddos to the snack bar for popsicles. Around 10am, the beach was inundated with the cruise ship crowd that had come over from St. Thomas. This just reaffirmed our commitment to never set foot on a cruise ship (one exception: Alaska). Not to be petty (but Thomas will be), it's the same crowd that you see at the food court at Lloyd Center Mall in Portland.

We spent Sunday afternoon at the house getting to know our pool. Beau was a little daredevil (surprise) leaping from the side of the pool into her dad's arms. Gus continued to cautiously get more comfortable in the water. Beau and Gus couldn't get enough of Mimi.

Heather and Thomas capitalized on this Mimi love affair by heading out on date night to Asolare -- a restaurant perched on a cliff with great sunset views. Dinner was as follows: tuna tartare, calamari salad, thai crab soup, crab souffle, lemon tart and a few cocktails. After dinner, we headed down to the Beach Bar for a Bushwhacker. Thanks to Megan for giving us the night out on the town.

  1. Who Photoshopped the 8-pack on Thomas in the pool photo?
